WB132: Immigration Webinar Series - Part I: Best Practices in Reaching Out and Communicating with Immigrant Communities
This webinar will improve members of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition National Training Academy’s capacity to make contact with and communicate with immigrant communities. After beginning with an introduction, the webinar presenter will provide an overview of key concepts, terminology, and common stereotypes relating to immigrants. The presenter will then offer a primer on understanding the who, what, where, when, and why of immigrants today in the United States, including key legal concepts and context. Next, the audience will receive training on how immigrants’ mindsets about personal finances and buying or renting a home may differ from U.S. citizens and the effects of the current political climate and increased immigration enforcement on immigrant communities. Finally, the webinar presenter will apply lessons learned from the earlier primer and training topics to provide practical skills and best practices in reaching out to and communicating with immigrants.
