HC108: Homebuyer Education

This training teaches and equips counselors and homebuyer education providers with skills, procedures and required content necessary to create new sustainable homeownership through hands-on applications.
Attendees will learn the proper and most effective ways to deliver one-on-one counseling and conduct group educations sessions, which address savings, credit debt and other obstacles and barriers to homeownership utilizing the latest industry tools, techniques and resources. This course teaches about the Lead Disclosure for pre 1978 homes, EPA’s Rehabilitation Repair and Paint Rule and the testing that is available of lead hazards, toxic mold radon and other conditions that can be an additional burden to homeowners having to address these issues after settlement.
- Understand mortgage readiness assessments, prequalification, credit report review, action plan development and other key counseling activities.
- Discover how to enhance their communication, customer service and organizational skills.
- Provide counselors with the resources to help homeowners maintain their home and finance post purchase.
