WB403: Age-Friendly Banking for Adult Protective Services and Social Work Professionals
In today’s economy, older consumers are increasingly in need of financial products and supportive services that will allow them to age in place and live with dignity. Implementing Age-Friendly Banking financial products, services and protections widely supports low to moderate income older adults as well as other populations. Social worker and adult protective services professionals that understand the standards of Age-Friendly Banking are prepared to explain to clients the types of banking accounts, specific protections and services that may best support the client. Join the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and the National Association of Adult Protective Services to learn more about Age-Friendly Banking standards, how they can support clients and how clients, older adults, caregivers and others can advocate for these products, services and protections.
- We will introduce the concept of “Age-Friendly Banking” and the demographic shift that leads to its focus in banking.
- We will describe the activities, products, and initiatives making branches more age-friendly and engaged with older adults the local community.
- We will determine how Age-Friendly Banking may protect clients and older adults.
- We will assist clients and others to ask for and advocate for enhanced products, services and protections from their bank or financial institution.
