Event Description

WB119: Disaster Preparedness: Before the Disaster Strikes

This is a pre-recorded webinar available until September 30, 2019

Recent disasters in the US have required a call to action by HUD-approved housing counseling agencies. In addition to the expertise that housing counseling agencies have in helping consumers obtain and maintain housing, we need to rapidly respond when disaster strikes to serve survivors in need of assistance.

This webinar will provide information about where in the US disasters typically occur and statistics about recent disasters. We will discuss immediate steps to take following a disaster and who the main players are in recovery efforts. We review the HUD tool kits that are available to housing counselors, and provide overview of HUDs Disaster Recovery housing counseling program. Participants will be knowledgeable about HUDs expectations for housing counseling agencies before and after a disaster.

Join NCRC for a 90-minute webinar intended for HUD Housing Counseling Agencies and staff members who wish to know more about the tools and resources that are available to help us be prepared when disaster strikes. Housing Counselors will know the steps to take today to be fully prepared for tomorrow’s disasters.
