​FH205: Cultural Sensitivity: Providing Services in Diverse Communities

Monday & Tuesday 8:30am-4:30pm

Course Description:

This training session is designed to assist housing counselors, fair housing advocates, housing professionals, and individuals who work with diverse communities. Cultural Sensitivity is critical in providing adequate services to all types of groups and communities.  Specifically, housing counselors face cultural barriers when counseling clients.  This 2-day Training will educate housing professionals on cultural identity differences, increase professionals’ cultural competence, and allow groups to work together to develop culturally sensitive techniques to implement in their everyday work.  All participants will gain background knowledge and tools to effectively communicate with their clients, along with develop strategies on how to reduce misunderstandings. These tools will help create positive strong relationships with clients, coworkers, partners, and their communities.
