Sue has a Master’s degree in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology and is employed as the Director of Homeowner and Family Services with Habitat for Humanity of Michigan (HFHM). Sue oversees the HUD housing counseling, home repair and lending programs with Habitat Michigan, and works to ensure that financial education and coaching is available in every Michigan community. She is also responsible for some of the public and private sector grant writing at HFHM and enjoys managing the connection with Habitat’s HUD Intermediaries, NeighborWorks and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). In 2020 Sue celebrates 28 years in housing & community development work. Sue is also a Technical Assistance (TA) provider for NCRC. Her efforts in this partnership includes curriculum development, webinars, e-learning, technical assistance and NCRC Counseling Network training. Sue is an impassioned advocate for the elimination of predatory lending in our communities and is working to create a payday loan alternative program that can be replicated by non profits across the US. In her spare time Sue enjoys building and working on her cordwood cabin “Up North” and spending time with her beautifully large family.
